This morning we released a ton of updates to Xero. Here are some of the highlights – check out the Xero release notes to see the rest.

Xero TV on the login screen

23 June 2014 Xero release includes Xero TV on the login screen

We now display education videos right on the login screen making it easier for all users to be smarter with Xero, and discover new features. Our education team has been investing significantly to create useful content for Xero TV and it’s the best place to learn about Xero.

Support for four decimal places on unit prices

We’ve heard you! Plenty of you have been asking for Xero to support unit prices with more precision – a bit more to it than you might think but we hire smart people, so good to be able to tick this off. For most of you it will just work – however, if you use DOCX invoice templates you need to make a small update.

Default account code and tracking for contacts

A handy feature to make it easier to remember the correct account codes and tracking to use for specific clients and suppliers. Simply set the defaults on your client records and Xero will fill them in for you when invoicing and raising spend/receive money documents.

Consultant role

This is a new practice role that can be given to people you want to invite into your clients’ organisations without having to treat them as staff. Ideal for accounting firms wanting to invite bookkeepers in to help out.

New payment service – Authorize.Net

Good news for people on this community thread – you can now accept credit card payments using your Authorize.Net account.

Other good stuff in this morning’s Xero release includes:

  • Smart Lists – a tool that creates lists of customers based on the criteria you choose
  • New option to update your repeating invoices when you change a Contact’s email address
  • The ability to archive and restore tracking categories and options
  • Multi-select items under Find & Match in bank rec
  • Import default branding theme for contacts
  • check out the rest of the recent updates to Xero.

A number of these updates are courtesy of our amazing Sniper team while the rest of the team are actively working on some larger features, including reporting (a new Profit and Loss report is next in line), inventory and quotes. We’ll have more updates on these as we progress further.
